Health MEC in the Western Cape Theuns Botha says a prescribed recruitment and selection process was followed in appointing staff for the Khayelitsha District Hospital.

This comes after the Khayelitsha residents had a protest outside the hospital last week claiming that locals were overlooked in the selection process for employment.

Botha said that the appointed staff has already started working in the hospital.

The hospital will be opened officially next month by the Western Cape Premier Helen Zille.
