What Gordhan has in store for social grants

The social grant system has seen many changes over the past few years.

One of which has been the child support grant being extended to a child’s 18th birthday.

The old age grant has been reduced from 65 to 60 and a higher old age grant from 75 years and up was introduced last year.

The increases for social grants this year are as follows: State old age grant went up from R1140 to R1200 with an increase of R60.

State old age grant (75+) went up from R1160 to R1220 with an increase of R60.

War veteran’s grant went up from R1160 to R1220 with an increase of R60.

Disability grant went up from R1140 to R1200 with an increase of R60.

Foster care grant went up from R740 to R770 with an increase of R30.

Care dependency grant went up from R1140 to R1200 with an increase of R60.

The child support grant went up from R265 to R280 with an increase of R15.
