More than 2000 Khayelitsha learners spent Human Rights Day marching through the streets to highlight the challenges they have.
The learners complained their schools lacked basic things such as textbooks and infrastructure.
The protesting learners wore their school uniforms despite yesterday being a public holiday.
The learners, who are from various schools in the area, want all South African children to have access to a good quality education.
