The National Council of Provinces Delegation in the Western Cape said that they are satisfied with the state of governance and finances of Swellendam and Cape Agulhas municipalities.

This comes after the delegation had visited the two municipalities.

Mr Michael de Villiers said that he was particularly impressed with the Swellendam municipality.

He also said that the office of the Auditor General responded swiftly when problems of financial management were identified in 2009.

The delegation added that the management of both municipalities interacted with them and presented their financial management and internal controls against irregularities or unauthorised expenditure.

The delegation on Thursday will be visiting the Overstrand and Theewaterskloof municipalities.
