Two people have died, one person is in a serious condition and six others have sustained various injuries following a single vehicle collision on the N2 highway in Ruigtevlei near Sedgefield.

Paramedics say that the cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but a single Isuzu bakkie had left the highway in the direction of Sedgefield.

Communications Officer Western Cape Provincial Department of Health Angelique Jordaan said that the bakkie then overturned multiple times ejecting most of the occupants from the open load bed.

ER24 and paramedics from the Western Cape Provincial Department of Health: Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and found that two of the occupants had sustained various fatal injuries.

Jordaan added that both occupants were later declared dead at the scene.
