Western Cape Disaster Risk Management assisted thousands affected by yesterday’s heavy rain as 400 people were displaced.

Homes in areas like Fish Hoek, Strand and Khayelisha were flooded.

People are being helped with blankets, meals and food parcels.

Residents living in Rasta Camp, Pinetown, Rooi Dakkies and the Uitkyk informal settlements were moved to various locations.

Meanwhile, provincial traffic officials urged motorists to be cautious when driving during heavy rain even though the worst of the storm has now passed.
