478 arrested in Mitchells Plain

A total of 478 people were arrested in Mitchells Plain thi\e past week, Cape Town police said.

The South African Police Service cluster in Mitchells Plain said a number of crime prevention operations were conducted in the area since Monday, leading to the arrests.

Those arrested faced a variety of charges including murder, rape, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, domestic violence, possession of drugs and other crimes.

On Tuesday police arrested two men aged between 20 and 24 for murder. They appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Thursday, and their case was postponed to 26 July.
