The Gauteng local government and housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi has resigned.

Mmemezi issued a statement today apologising for personal purchases made on a government-issued credit card.

The Congress of the People Youth Movement says they welcome his resignation.

The COPE youth movement’s President Nqaba Bhanga said they are not shocked about his resignation due to many issues relating to corruption in the department of housing and lack of delivery from his part.

Bhanga added that they have been consisted in calling for good governance and people that will serve the interests of those who do not have.
