12 Killed in crash

An early-morning accident in Vereeniging in Gauteng has claimed at least 12 lives.

Paramedics say a truck and a minibus collided in Sebokeng around three this morning.

Ten people died on the scene and another two passed away in hospital. It is not yet clear what caused the crash.  

ER24’s Vanessa Jackson said it is believed that both vehicles may have crossed over the intersection at the wrong time leading to the extensive impact of the head-on collision.

Only one person survived.
