The Commission for Gender Equality has strongly condemned the physical abuse of a learner by an educator at Patriot High School in Mpumalanga.

CGE’s Javu Baloyi said it is disappointing that a learner was subjected to unnecessary violence by someone who was meant to protect her.

Baloyi added that they are calling on the basic department of education to intervene in the matter immediately.

He emphasised that learners should not be abused by educators.
