The Health Care Professions on Tuesday released the ethical tariff guideline.

The body said that this is a relief to people`s cries that doctors are charging exorbitant fees.

The South African Medical Association’s acting Chairperson Dr Mark Sonderup said that they are disappointed by the publication of the so-called ethical tariff guidelines.

Sonderup added that the guidelines do not reflect the true costs of running a private healthcare practise.

He also said that the ethical tariff guideline in reality will make little difference to the prices that doctors charge.
