The Inkatha Freedom Party is calling for the Departments of Health and Police to work together to ensure stricter law enforcement in South Africa's medical facilities.
This follows the arrest of three men who attempted to rob a doctor's surgery in Soweto in order to steal antiretroviral drugs
IFP health spokesperson Dr Usha Roopnarain says the safety of healthcare workers and patients is key.
He added that even if it means creating a police presence in hospitals and clinics.
