In Marikana in the North West, one of the 34 people shot dead during clashes between police and protestors last week Thursday was buried today.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane addressed the mourners.

Motsoaledi assured the family of 24-year-old Papi Modingoane that government would support the families of the bereaved.

Modingoane was the only breadwinner in his family.

Motsoaledi added that Social Workers from the Department of Social Services are already assesing the situation of each family.

A number of funerals are also being held in the Eastern Cape this weekend.
