Andiswa Mkosi
18 August 2012
An urgent summit is taking place in Johannesburg today to discuss the bloodshed at Lonmin’s Marikana mine in North West.
Minerals Minister Susan Shabangu has called several stakeholders in the mining industry to the meeting.
This follows the killing of at least 44 people over the past week after an illegal strike started last Friday.
Shabangu has been joined by Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant and representatives of the Chamber of Mines, various unions and Lonmin.
