The Democratic Alliance said it will not accept amendments to the Electorial Act to provide for party gender quotas.

The party feels it would be constitutionally problematic to base representation in Parliament on race or any other demographic variable.

The DA’s Pierra Abbot said that the constitution says people have enjoy their rights not based on gender.

She added that the DA quotas is not based on gender,it is rather based on commitment.
