Miners protest blamed on Zuma and Malema

The Democratic Alliance says the violence by miners in South Africa can be blamed on the war between President Jacob Zuma and expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema.

DA Spokesperson Mmusi Maimane issued a statement on Saturday that says it is all about power and the ordinary South Africans have been caught in the middle.

Maimane said that it was particularly disturbing that Malema and his backers are willing to put the stability of the country and its economy at risk simply to score political points for the ANC conference in Mangaung later this year.

He added that something needs to be done urgently to put a stop to this.
