Auditor General Terence Nombembe says municipalities must work together to achieve clean administrations.
Speaking yesterday at the South African Local Government Association conference in Midrand, Gauteng he suggested regular meetings of local government leaders.
He said it could help to find ways to work together and achieve sound financial governance in local government.
A recent report by Nombembe found that only 13 out of 343 municipalities in South Africa achieved clean audits in the last financial year.
