Tshwane Emergency Services says South Africans must be aware of the dangers of the coming rainy season.
Spokesperson Johan Pieterse says severe thunderstorms could pose a problem from this month until the end of summer.
He says people must make provisions to channel water away from their homes before thunderstorms hit.
They must also be very aware of children swimming or playing at rivers or dams where sudden rain could cause danger.
