Shell welcome’s cabinet decision

Oil giant Shell has welcomed Cabinet's decision to lift the moratorium on shale gas exploration in South Africa.

Chairperson Bonang Mohale says the Karoo Basin offers a potential exploration opportunity for shale gas.

They believe it will be active in meeting South Africa's growing energy demand.

Should the exploration go ahead, it would also create sustainable and permanent jobs for South Africans.
