25 September 2012
The advocacy group I CAN says employers are struggling to meet targets for disabled people in the workplace.
I CAN head Alison Smeeton says there is a lack of knowledge on how to include disabled people in the workplace, coupled with ignorance and fear.
According to Smeeton, the schooling system is also failing people with disabilities.
She says companies are looking for people with ‘mild disabilities’ and by doing this they are reaching the target where as people who are significantly disabled are excluded.
