The Western Cape Provincial government on Tuesday said they are going ahead with the Community Safety Bill.

Provincial Community Safety Spokesperson Greg Warner said they hope the bill will come into effect in 2013.

Warner also said the proposed legislation will grant the province power to monitor the police and set up an ombudsman to investigate service delivery complaints.

Meanwhile the Western Cape Premier Helen Zille says her government has came up with new tools to analyze crime in real time.

Zille was speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday about safety concerns and gang violence on the Cape Flats.
