The Workers International Vanguard Party said the brutal attacks by the police and the army on the striking mineworkers on Saturday was uncalled for.
The Union`s General Secretary Shaheed Mahomed says this shows that the state is the executive arm of the mining corporations like Anglo American, whose plunder of the wealth of the region is now coming under question from the exploited masses.
Mahomed said the money that the workers are demanded is way too little compared to the money the bosses are taking home at the end of the money.
He added that there is a need to set up solidarity committees in every working class area, every school and workplace, to stop the Marikana once and for all.
