Government hopes to conclude talks on the Gauteng freeway project with concerned parties next week.

The deputy president’s spokesperson Thabo Masebe says a lot of progress has been made. Kgalema Motlanthe heads the inter-ministerial committee on the project.

Meetings were held this week with the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance, the Federation of Unions of South Africa, Business Unity South Africa and the Road Freight Agency.

According to Masebe, almost all of them accept the user-pays principle.
