Toyota strike ended by Numsa

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa’s leadership held an urgent meeting with NUMSA members employed at Toyota Prospecton plant in Durban on Thursday. 

The meeting was brought about by the illegal strike by workers in the Toyota plant. 

Regional Secretary Mbuso Ngubane said the meeting brought forward a comprehensive understanding of the workers frustrations.

According to Ngubane it was decided at the meeting that workers down tools.  The union reached a draft settlement with Toyota to end the strike.

Workers are back at work today.
