This week we have seen the issue of
bullying and school based violence highlighted in the media.
Clinical psychologist Liane Lurie says this kind of violence is on the increase and something needs to be done to curb this problem. Lurie says bullying tends to have psychological and mental impact on victims.
She says most of the time those who are being bullied do not report what is happening and this tends to affect them negatively. They withdraw, they want to avoid school and this leads to depression.
Parents need to watch out for these signs and get involved in their children's lives
