Teachers at some of the schools facing closure have refused to sign for receipt of letters which provide information on the provincial Education department’s placement plan for them.

The Department has indicated that teachers at the 20 schools, which it plans to close on December 31, would follow pupils to their new schools.

On Monday a lawyer representing the schools earmarked for closure filed an urgent interdict requesting the suspension of schools closures.

Education Department Spokesperson Paddy Attwell said has developed a personnel plan with trade unions.
