Three arrested for tik possession in Guglethu

Three people have been arrested in Gugulethu after being found in possession of tik with a street value R1.2m, Cape Town police said on Saturday.

Captain FC Van Wyk said that Police were conducting routine searches in the area on Saturday afternoon when they noticed the driver of a Ford Fiesta acting "suspiciously".

When the vehicle was searched, they found suspicious items and probed further.

Van Wyk said “In the car the police found a small plastic bag containing tik and an undisclosed amount of cash in the possession of one of the occupants.”

A 29 year old Nigerian National and two women were taken into custody in the Gugulethu police station, and will appear in Athlone Magistrate Court on Monday.
