Two hundred and fifty people left homeless after fire blazes through two informal settlements

Two hundred and fifty people were left homeless in Cape Town after two fires wrought havoc in the early hours of this morning.

 There were no injuries in either of the incidents.

 No persons sustained any injuries in both fire incidents.

At this stage it is unclear what caused these fires.

 Wilfred Solomons Johannes adds in the first incident, a fire gutted 60 informal structures at the Overcome Heights informal settlement in Seawinds.

 The fire caused devastation and 240 people are left homeless. 

The fire also damaged the overhead electricity infrastructure that caused an interruption in the power supply.

 At this stage it is unclear what caused these fires however the authorities will begin an investigation.

The city provided victims with food, clothing, blankets and building materials.
