The African National Congress in the Western Cape has called for calm and responsible action in the farmworkers strike.
The strike which resumed on Wednesday has been marred with violence, with more than 50 people arrested.
ANC’s Cobus Grobler said the ANC commends some farmers in the province that have already increased the daily wage for farm labourers.
Grobler added that the ANC is calling on Cosatu’s Western Cape Secretary General Tony Ehrenreich to provide leadership in the standoff.
