The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa has voiced out its concern over the possible closure of the 142-bed McCord hospital in Kwazulu Natal.

The hospital may close in March due financial problems.

Denosa Provincial Secretary Cassim Lekhoathi said the country is in desperate need for more hospital beds and more healthcare workers.

Lekhoathi added that while the hospital is a non-governmental health facility, it has serviced many patients in need of health care.

Lekhoathi said if they close the hospital then the patients will also be affected and also the intended screenings will suffer because there is no funding.

Lekhoathi furthermore says that the closure of that hospital will affect a lot of patients who have been getting services at the facility.
