The City of Cape Town plans for floods and fires

The City of Cape Town is close to securing land that will help eliminate damage during fires and floods.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said the city will be building a Green Shack which tackles the engineering aspects of emergency preparedness, engineering and enforcement approach. 

Smith said this project will make it easy to solar power, reduce electricity consumption.

He added that it will prevent shack fires and reduce death rate in the informal settlements.
