A man died in a shack fire in Phillipi

A fire in Phillipi, at the Brown’s Farm Informal Settlement on Thursday claimed the life of a 64 year-old man.
The man identified as Khawceza Nontsele could not escape when the shack was engulfed in flames.
11 people were left homeless and one shack was destroyed.
Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Wilfred Solomon Johannes said the officials assisted the family and provided food, blankets and building material.
He added that the cause of the fire is not known.
