Civil Society organisations will tonight hold a night vigil for budget justice.

This is on the eve of Fiancé Minister Pravin Gordhan’s 2013 Budget Speech.

More than 30 civil organisations will be demanding a budget that will give enough scope to the state to address structural inequality and poverty and create an environment for ecological development.

Dick Forslund from Alternative Information Development Centre explains that this calls for budget justice and it is concentrated on calling for government to tax the rich so the poor can live.

Forslund adds that it is to stop excessive tax cuts and to finance education, service delivery to provide enough money to the local government so that service delivery can be accomplished

Forslund said that as Alternative Information Development they would also like to see the shift in the priority of the government from infrastructure investments that are more designed to support the mining and this type of activity.
