The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa has welcomed President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address.

Denosa said it was a good sign that President Zuma said government will still emphasise improvement on education and the plan to establish the Presidential Remuneration Commission, which will look at the appropriateness of salaries for all government employees.
Denosa’s Sibongiseni Delihlazo said the quality of nursing is being affected by the remuneration scales.
“Part of the problem was caused by application of the occupation specific dispensation is a disadvantage to nursing tutors which requires that tuitors must have ten years experience nursing to move to grade two in terms of the salary scale” Delihlazo said
