The Food and Allied Workers Union is calling for the immediate end to the arrests of foreigners working on farms.

It has been reported that 136 foreigners were arrested in Ceres last week.

The foreigners are from Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Fawu has called these arrests xenophobic.

Fawu general secretary Katishi Masemola said the foreigners were arrested because of not having sufficient documentation.

Masemola said they will be writing to the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Police, pleading with them to stop these arrests.
