Government welcomes the peace accord in the mining sector

The Minister of water and Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa briefed journalists about the common understanding of key issues concerning the protection and sustainable conservation of the South African rhino population.

Molewa said South Africa will host and participate in side events during the Conference of the Parties and three of these events will focus on rhino matters.

Meanwhile the cabinet welcomed the collective commitment by all stakeholders of the framework for peace and stability in the Mining Industry.

Acting Cabinet Spokesperson Pumla Williams said this was held as a positive step towards restoring stability in the sector.
