Following the State of the Nation Address on 14th February, Ministers from various Government Department continue holding media briefings.

The Justice Minister Jeff Radebe, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa and Correctional Services Minister Sbu Ndebele today addressed the media on issues of crime.

The Democratic Alliance said, Justice Minister Jeff Radebe failed to assure the South African public that key appointments throughout the criminal justice system will be made within a specified timeframe.
DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Debbie Schafer said the only position he committed to being filled by the President in the near future is that of Head of the Special Investigating Unit, which is to be welcomed, if indeed it materialises.

Schafer added that the DA calls on President Jacob Zuma to commit to a timeframe and ensure that these positions are filled by fit and proper people as soon as possible.
