The South African National Parks reported that crimes against Table Mountain users had dropped since the establishment of a safety forum.
The number of crimes against mountain users had dropped by 50 percent between 2011 and 2012.
SanParks spokesperson Merle Collins said that a large group of people are working behind the scenes to make the park safer.
“What Table Mountain National Park Safety team does once a month, is search the park for potential hide outs” Collins said.
Collins added that people are now more willing to report suspicious behaviour, and said that there is no way their team can do it on their own.
