Vandalism across Cape Town has cost almost R1 million

On Thursday, the full council meeting was held with City of Cape Town where Mayor Patricia De Lille addressed the councillors present. 

De Lille said a social development programme to raise awareness of identifying incidents of how to respond to gender violence will soon be activated in communities in all districts. 

Mayor De Lille added that over vandalism has cost the city almost R1 million. De Lille added that almost 300 families have been affected by the New Year’s Day fire in Khayelitsha. 

She furthermore said the council has committed itself to a long-term plan of relocating all of the affected families to Bosasa.

All due legal have been completed by October this year, will eventually become a formalised area and those who will move to Bosasa will be provided with a site with a temporary top structure, and with security of tenure De Lille said.
