The Western Cape Traffic Department
held 12 roadblocks throughout the province on Friday night.
1 552 vehicles were stopped,
and 675 drivers tested for alcohol. 12 drunk drivers were arrested, with the
highest reading being 1.61 mg/l.

Africa said that a taxi driver was arrested for the possession of tik and mandrax.
“The total amount of fines that were
issued was R 112 800, we also screened the speed for 12 475 vehicles,
and prosecuted 919 drivers for exceeding the speed limit” Africa said.
