Carlisle: Happy to see a 35 percent decrease in fatal crashes

The Western Cape Ministry of Transport and Public Works said over the past 12 months, 1 194 lives were lost on Western Cape roads.

 This is a 31 percent decrease from 1 739, the figure recorded at the end of 2008.

MEC Robin Carlisle said he is happy to see a 35 percent decrease across the classes of fatalities, especially the drop in pedestrian deaths. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said they will continue to leave no stone unturned and explore all the measures they can possible  explore to deter  all the reckless behaviour on the road.
