Robin Carlisle delivered the 2013 department of transport budget

On Monday, MEC of Transport and Public works Robin Carlisle tabled the 2013 department of transport budget.

The budget amounts to over R6 billion for 2013/2014. 

Carlisle said National treasury has added an amount close to R1.7 billion in 2013/2014 mainly for the building of schools and roads.

Carlisle added that the budget grows from R3, 807,886 in 2010/11 and the current administration has spent nearly three times as much as the ANC.

Carlisle further added that some of the money held by Education, health the stuff they build and they have infrastructure reserve by provincial treasury.

Meanwhile in 2015 commuters in Cape Town can expect new trains which will be delivered to the province in a 25 year period that will see all existing train sets and indication systems replaced.

Carlisle said metrorail have shown a solid step up in making its passengers safe and making service available.
