The African Christian Democratic Party today said South Africa’s loan to Zimbabwe was expected.

The South African Government approved a R900 million loan to support Zimbabwe ahead of its elections expected late this year.

ACDP’s Cheryllyn Dudley said they accept that the money spent on helping Zimbabwe to take ownership of their future through a peaceful and fair democratic election, is an investment worth the risk and a move in the right direction.

Dudley said ACDP views South Africa former diplomatic effort as largely responsible for the procurement that we now find ourselves in.

Dudley added that having facilitated if not actually encouraged President Mugabe to disregard the rule of the law and his lack of concern for the consequences of his action that are born purely by the Zimbabwean People.

If however we want Zimbabweans to have a stable country to live in, we will have to actively support the democratic election and this mean providing the money needed.” Dudley added.
