The African National Congress in the Western Cape said the provincial government is unrepresentative of the people of the province and makes no attempt to correct this objectionable diversity and gender situation.

The party said it rejects how things are done in the province and Premier Helen Zille’s stance is hypocritical and inappropriate.

ANC Member of Parliament Lynne Brown said that more and more African and coloured people were being either dismissed or being offered packages to leave the Western Cape and they are replaced by whites, most of whom are male.

“For us in the ANC, we believe that a public service must reflect the demographics of the province in which we live; the effect of apartheid is part of this legacy” Brown added.
