The African National Congress in the Western Cape has welcomed the talks between the Khoi and the San facilitated by the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Gugile Nkwinti.

The Minister said these talks re-affirms government's commitment to address the concerns and needs of the Khoi and San communities, and to social cohesion and nation-building.

ANC’s Phillip Dexter said these talks are significant.

Dexter said the issue of the claims of the descendants of these people is one that is an outstanding matter that has not been resolved during the democracy era.

“The ANC is pleased and doing everything we can to ensure that those talks are a success, and that the historical injustice been done to the descendants of the Khoi and San people is one that is righted” Dexter added.
