The City of Cape Town, together with provincial has obtained a court interdict to stop the plans to implement e-tolls in the Western Cape.

The South African National Road Agency Limited has proposed to implement the e-tolling project on the N1 and N2 in the Winelands region.

The mayors of five Democratic Alliance led municipalities came out in strong support for the city in its fight against the N1/N2 Winelands Toll Road Project last week.

DA Provincial Leader Ivan Meyer said the City of Cape Town has already obtained a court date to put an interdict that will be in the middle of next month.

Meyer added that they will fight this it up to the constitutional court and one of the reasons are that  SANRAL’s says that they want to improve the N1 and the N2.

Furthermore he explains that on SANRAL’s website it states that these roads are in an excellent condition and it does not make sense that they want toll roads to want to improve the roads when their website states it is in an excellent condition.
