The City of Cape Town and the city council has drawn applications to be in control all public transport in Cape Town.

Part of the application is to oversee the Golden contract.

The bus company receives a subsidy of around R700 million from national government.

Golden Arrow says that more than half of its income comes from government funding.

Spokesperson for Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works Siphesihle Dube said Golden Arrow was the only company that was paid a subsidy by the provincial government.
