Cluster police arrests close to 150 suspects

91 suspects were this weekend arrested by the Cape Town Cluster police. 

During the execution of various vehicle checkpoints 33 suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, 116 suspects were arrested for minor offences and 11 suspects were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property during stop and search patrols conducted. 

Sergeant Hilton Malila explains that they arrested 31 suspects for being in possession of drugs and dagga and police seized 5 packets of cocaine, 83 units of heroin, 42 packets of tik and 169 packets of dagga.

Malila said It all amounted to a street value of approximately R15 000.  

“We also recovered two fire arms a revolver and a nine millimetre pistol that was used during incidents committed in Sea Point and Kensington respectively, the serial numbers of those fire arms have been filed off,” said Malila

Furthermore he explains that the search operations will be done on a continuous basis over weekends in the Cape Town cluster.
