COSATU Limpopo condemns assault on woman at Jane Furse shop

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Limpopo has condemned the assault of a woman at a Jane Furse Store.

Cosatu said the store’s management claimed to not know what had happened and only found out about it when the five suspects were arrested last week.

Three men and two women employed at the store were apprehended for assaulting the woman for alleged theft.

Cosatu Limpopo Provincial Gender Coordinator Toekie Kgabo said that the victim was humiliated and they are angered that the two women present who had cheered during the assault.

“The women should be brought to book because they assisted in this regard; and as Cosatu Limpopo we have been embarking on several pickets at several magistrates courts to get our message across that women abuse must stop” Kgabo added.
