The public hearings into the efficiency of policing in Khayelitsha have been postponed.

This is until the Constitutional Court has ruled on the case.  Western Cape Premier Helen Zille set up the Commission of Inquiry into policing in Khayelitsha in August.

It has been reported that the commission will continue to collect statements from members of the community.

Premier Zille Spokesperson Zak Mbhele said the Premier will be defending the decision to establish the Commission which Minister Mthethwa challenged, which will be heard in the Consititution Chourt on August 6th.

“In the meantime, there has been a decision settlement taken between all parties to suspend High Court applications until the Constitutional Court application has been heard” Mbhele added.
